Obituary

Linda Kay Mosier-Manley of Cameron, Texas went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 17th, after a courageous brief battle with cancer. She was born November 25, 1952, to Alfred Thomas Mosier and Billie Jo Mosier in Corpus Christi, Texas where her father was stationed in the Navy. She was the first born of what would be 4 children. Sister Brenda, and later brothers Chip and Robert would complete the family.

Moving during her childhood was not uncommon, and her childhood years were spent in South Texas and eventually leading to Louisiana, and finally back to Mayfair Park in Houston. Linda graduated from Dulles High School in Houston. She eventually made her home in Manvel, Texas, and in her retirement years made her home in Cameron, TX when she bought a beautiful property that she could truly call hers.

Linda had a wealth of talents. Her greatest being a teacher. She was an instructor of cosmetology where she helped young people reach their true potential. Linda also worked in the public school system where she taught what some would call the unlovable. She had such an amazing gift and heart for the kids. She treated them just like they were her own. Her expectations never wavered and her students loved her dearly. Eventually Linda would find her way to Dow Chemical where she worked as a lab technician. She worked in a man dominated industry and paid her dues right alongside of them. She worked 12 hour days or 12 hour nights and never faltered. She was respected by all and as her coworkers would joke, feared by some. She retired from the chemical plant industry in 2013 but slowing down was not in her plans.

Linda was one of the toughest women you could ever meet. Days spent horseback helping her grandfather work cattle, to helping her son build fence, there wasn't anything she was afraid to do. Her never quit attitude pushed her through many tough times in her life. Health issues that came up through her life she met them head on with the same toughness and fearlessness that she had always shown.

Her family meant the world to her. She was a woman known by many different names. Katy-did by her grandfather JC, Sister to her siblings, Eeyah to her nieces and nephews and friend to her aunts and cousins but her greatest and most important name to her was mom. Never was there a love stronger than the one she had for her son Skeet. He brought so much joy into her life and she loved every minute of being his mom. Whether he was playing baseball, showing livestock in 4-H and FFA, visiting him in Lubbock at Texas Tech going to football games, working on their ranch or floating the Frio River, she was right by his side and his biggest fan. She was so extremely proud of him and his accomplishments of attending Texas Tech and becoming an ag-teacher. However, Linda just thought she knew love but she was wrong. When Skeet's daughters were born, Linda became Yaya, which quickly became her favorite name of all and of course fell head over heels in love with them. Allee Jo and Jolee Kay were her life over the last six years. She loved spending time with them and she spent as much time with them as she could, and she did just that, right up until the end.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Thomas Mosier, Jr. (Tommy) and Billie Jo Mosier; grandparents, Alfred and Lula Mosier and JC and Marie Williams; niece Maranda (Randi) Kay Barrington. She is survived by her son Skeet Manley and wife Donette, her precious granddaughters Allee Jo Manley and Jolee Kay Manley of Cameron, Tx. Her sister Brenda Duerer and husband James of Kosse, Tx, brother, Chip Mosier and wife Trish of Iola, brother Robert Mosier and wife Martha of College Station, as well as her aunts who loved her dearly and many nieces and nephews.
