Rebecca Lynn Dowdy McCluskey was born on Monday, May 28, 1979, at 1:26 am in Jourdanton, Texas. She was the youngest daughter of Craig and Mary Dowdy. Rebecca attended school in Pleasanton and graduated from PHS in 1997. After high school, she attended Sul Ross State University and Southwest Texas State University graduating in 2001 with her Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology. She then attended nursing school at San Antonio College and earned her Registered Nurse license. She worked at South Texas Regional Medical Center in Jourdanton for a few years and then began her career at Santa Rosa Hospital, now Children's Hospital of San Antonio. She worked there for over 15 years, ending her career there as house supervisor this past spring.
In April 2010, she became the mother of Rex and in October 2015, she married Brandon McCluskey and gained 2 more sons, Devon and Dane. In June of 2020, she and Brandon moved their family to Fulton, Texas and they enjoyed the coast life, riding her golf cart to the water, the local eateries, and pubs and listening to music at the Fulton pavilion.
She is proceeded in death by her grandparents Raymond and Eva Jane Dowdy, and Robert and La Merle Koehl.
She is survived by her beloved husband Brandon McCluskey, sons Rex Garza, Dane McCluskey and Devon McCluskey, parents Craig and Mary Dowdy, sisters and brothers-in-law Sarah and Robby Evans, Meredith and Guy Rutherford, Ruth and Curt Conroy, sister at heart Nacona David and husband Dale Ray, in-laws Kenny and Donna McCluskey, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Chelsea and Norm Charlton, nieces and nephews Jennifer, Courtney, Jeremy, Joris, Cody, JC, Robert, Cali, Bennack, McAda, Laila, Trenton, and Lilley, her "Cheaper than Therapy" friends, numerous great-nieces, and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Visitation will be at the First United Methodist Church in Pleasanton on Saturday, October 16 at 10 am with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 am.
