Tom Brooks, known as Pa by his grandchildren, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas.  He was a long-time resident of Rossville Community where he was actively involved and instrumental in the establishment of the Rossville Volunteer Fire Department.  He was a founding member of the Rossville Community Historical Association.  Tom was also an advocate for the Benton City Water Company and served on its Executive Board until his death.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Lucy Brooks, and his wife Nancy Ann Windham Brooks.  He is survived by his children, Amanda Brooks Peebles (Jerry), Chris Brooks, Rhonda Brooks-Bermea (Eddie), Nancy Brooks Kreussel (Marco); his sister, Peggy Brooks Steele (Bob-deceased) and Cindy Brooks Beagle (Mike); his eleven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Tom was born on December 8, 1938, in Jim Wells County to Lewis and Lucy Brooks.  He graduated from Alice High School in 1957 and spent two years at Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas before marrying Lois Nell Vogel and going to work for Reynolds Aluminum Plant in Ingleside, Texas.  After a brief stint as a single Dad, he met and married the love of his life, Nancy Ann Windham from Freer, Texas.  They were married 57 years at the time of her passing in 2019.

He moved his family to the Rossville area in the early '70s.  In 1980 he went to work for San Miguel Power Plant and retired in 2001.  Tom became a well-respected member of the Rossville Community, and his opinions and ideas were valued and sought out around Atascosa County.  He and his wife were actively involved and supported Operation Christian Love of the Frio River Baptist Association.  They also taught at and supported the Hosanna Baptist High School Program in Poteet and were founding members of the Current Sand Branch Cemetery Association.  Tom has spent the last 2 years helping to establish and build Rossville Community Church located on the property donated by himself and his wife Ann.  He loved his family, and nobody was a stranger in his house.  He also loved his Lord and was looking forward to his forever home.

Funeral Services will be at Rossville Community Church, 4138 FM 2504, Poteet, Texas 78065.  A viewing will be at 10:00 am with Funeral Services to begin at 11:00 am.  Graveside services will be at Sand Branch Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Rossville Community Church Building Fund.
