Raymond Reynaldo Cubriel
January 3, 1943 - June 19, 2008
Raymond R. Cubriel, beloved father, brother, and friend, went home to the Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 19th. His soul left this earth peacefully and quietly, surrounded in prayer by family.
Raymond was born January 3, 1943 in San Antonio, TX. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban crisis under President JFK and upon discharge, returned home to marry his soul mate and mother to his three children, Marie Juliette Cubriel, on July 24, 1965. Raymond and Marie shared fifteen wonderful years together, until her untimely passing on May 19, 1981. During this time Raymond served as a civilian at Kelly Air Force Base and was an incredibly loving, giving, and selfless father to his children. He retired from Kelly AFB in 1999 after 32 years of service.
Raymond is predeceased by his beloved wife, Marie Juliette Cubriel, and survived by his four children, Raymond Patrick, Vanessa Marie, Marisa Danielle, and Michael Anthony Cubriel, as well as five grandchildren, Jacqueline Marie, Julianna Nicole, and Alejandra Lucia Cubriel; Ashley Marie Shelton and Samantha Alane Shelton.
Raymond enjoyed the simple things in life, yet the most important. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family, cooking BBQ on Sunday and bringing everyone together. He treasured the relationships he had with his children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, family and friends. His faith was large and his love unconditional, enduring, and everlasting.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2008 from 2PM until 9PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7PM in the Chapel of the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine. Mass will be celebrated at 10AM Monday, June 23, 2008 in St. Josephs Catholic Church, Devine. Interment will follow at San Fernando #1 Cemetery in San Antonio.
