Joe Fred Cerda
January 1, 1948 - November 1, 2013

Joe Fred Cerda born January 1, 1948 to Alfredo and Frances (Leal) Cerda passed away November 1, 2013 at the age of 65. Joe Fred was a carpenter by trade and there are many, many homes in and around Pleasanton that he either helped build or remodeled. His work buddies can attest to his skilled workmanship; how he could cut the precise angles on a crown moulding by just taking one measurement and getting it perfect, the whole time looking like he did not know what he was doing. Joe Fred had a wonderful sense of humor; he was funny without trying to be funny. He enjoyed going fishing with his brother, Lupe and loved those Dallas Cowboys. He was a family loving man, which made him a good person with a kind heart. Joe is survived by wife Helen Cerda; son Eric Joe Cerda; daughters Frances Prince and husband Will and Angie Sotello and husband Thomas; brother Lupe Navarro and wife Gwen; niece Monica Navarro and her children Julie and Jonathan Lopez; grandchildren Christopher Lopez, and wife Debbie, Erica Lopez, Khloe Prince and Zachary Cerda; great-grandchild Kristen Lopez. He was also survived by step-sons David Caballero and wife Betty and Santos Caballero and wife Rene;  step-daughter Deanna Caballero; step-grandchildren Cody Caballero, Jennifer Garcia, David Caballero, II, Kory Caballero and Miranda Caballero; and step-great-grandchildren Isaih and Isaac Delgado. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Alfredo and Frances (Leal) Cerda and son Joey Cerda. Visitation will be held Monday, November 4, 2013 at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 West Oaklawn Road, Pleasanton starting at 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Pleasanton at 11:00 AM. Serving as pallbearers for Joe's service are: Adolfo Rodriguez, Danny DeLaGarza, Raymond Luna, Rudy Garza, Roger Gutierrez, and Raymond Prouty.
