Chris Newsome, 37, of Pleasanton, Texas died suddenly in Crested Butte, Colorado on December 27, 2008 while vacationing with his family after a brief battle with high altitude pulmonary embolus.  Chris is survived by his best friend and wife Joanna and his pride and joy, Dalton Wayne.  Chris was born May 19, 1971 in Floyd County, Kentucky to Norm and Polly Newsome.  In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his paternal grandmother, Juanita Pride Newsome of Martin, Kentucky; his sister Noreen Marcum, brother -in-law John and nephew Mikey, his brother Robert, sister in-law Denise and nieces Dallyn and Morgan all of Lexington, Kentucky.  Chris is also survived by Bill and Betty Jackson of Leakey, Texas and Joanna’s brother, Kevin Jackson, his wife Melinda and their children, Shelby Smith and Kendall Jackson of Richmond, Texas.

Chris had a deep love of country and was proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps, which included tours of duty in Somalia.   After leaving the Corps, Chris was married to the former Joanna Jackson on July 31, 1993 in Lexington, Kentucky.  Chris and Joanna made their home in Pleasanton and were joined by Dalton Wayne on December 27, 1999.  Chris was proprietor and CEO of Manning Safety Services and Newsome Industries in Jourdanton, Texas.

Chris will forever be remembered for the gleam in his eye, his tremendous sense of humor, his love of fine automobiles and motorcycles, but most for his generous spirit. He lived life to the fullest and cherished every day with his family and friends.   He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him and the impact of his generosity will be felt for generations.

In accordance with Chris’ wishes, no funeral services will be held.  In lieu of floral remembrances and/or charitable donations, the family asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
