Abelardo "Abel" Garcia, Jr. passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the age of 60.  He was born in Lubbock on June 21, 1962, to Jose Loza Garcia and Martina Lopez Garcia.

Abel is survived by his mother, Martina Garcia; wife, Gloria Garcia; daughter, Lisa Maria Salazar-Yepez; sons, Isreal Garcia and Luis Garcia; grandson, Isreal D. Garcia; daughter-in-law, Sabrina N. Phillips; brothers, Larry Garcia and Noel Garcia; sisters, Sylvia Guerra, Erlinda Hairston and Dolores Haynes; half-sisters, Sheilah Vara of Quinlan, Texas, Michelle Rodriguez of Smyma, Tennessee, and Priscilla Valencia of Plainview, Texas; half-brother, Samuel Quintero of Hale Center, Texas; and mother-in-law, Janie Hernandez of Plainview, Texas.

He was preceded by his father, Avelardo Garcia and stepfather, Jose L. Garcia, Jr.; brothers, Rudy Garcia and Jose Garcia; mother-in-law, Marcelina Coronado; and father-in-law, Antonio Coronado, Jr.; half-sister, Consuelo Davalos; and grandparents, Juanita and Lorenzo Lopez.

A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, January 22, 2023, at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm, with services concluding at that time.
