Obituary

Alice J. Mays, beloved mother, cherished grandmother, and adored friend, peacefully passed away on December 9, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born on July 2, 1933, in San Antonio, to Grant & Ruby Moore, of Moore's Feed and Seed Store, and resided in San Antonio. Alice's warm heart, kind spirit, and vibrant personality touched the lives of all who knew her.

Alice was a loving wife to her late husband Wayne Mays, married for forty-eight years, blessed with four wonderful boys: Gary, Scott, Darryl, and Eric. Alice dedicated her life to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for her family, creating cherished memories that will forever be treasured.

In her younger years, Alice pursued her education and earned an Associate's Degree, later she embarked on a fulfilling career with Kelly Air Force Base as an audiologist, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Alice's passion for helping others extended beyond her professional life.

Alice had an array of hobbies that brought her immense happiness. She was an exceptionally talented quilter, infusing her love and creativity into every stitch. Sewing allowed her to express herself and create beautiful works of art.

Alice found solace in music, whether it was singing in the church choir or simply embracing the melodies that resonated within her soul. She not only loved music but was an exceptional musician. Alice could play any instrument that she touched including piano, accordion, clarinet, violin, organ and drums. She had a flair for baking, and her homemade treats always brought delight to family and friends.

Alice was preceded by her husband of 48 years, Wayne A. Mays; son, Darryl Ray Mays; grandson, Daniel Anthony Mays; parents, Grant & Ruby Moore; and brother, Grant O. Moore, also of Moore's Feed and Seed store.

She is survived by sons Gary (Patricia) Mays of Missouri, Scott (Gloria) Mays of San Antonio, and Eric Mays of Pleasanton; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
