In Loving Memory of Andrew Aguero Martinez
The world mourns the loss of a dedicated and hardworking man, Andrew Aguero Martinez, who passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 4, 1947, in Pleasanton, Texas, Andrew was a beloved husband to Diana Martinez and a devoted father to their daughter, Mandy Martinez Perez, and sons, Michael and Mason Martinez.
Andrew spent his life as a proud truck driver, known for his time transporting peanuts and for his service at Atascosa County Precinct 1 before his well-deserved retirement. Whether behind the wheel of a truck or tinkering in his garage, Andrew's dedication to his work was unwavering. Beyond his professional life, he found joy in simple pleasures, watching drag racing, making barbeque, fishing trips, and riding around town to share ice cream with grandchildren.
An incredibly hard worker and a provider for his family, Andrew's actions spoke volumes, even though he was a man of few words. His warm smile conveyed a depth of care and love that touched all who knew him. The memories of him enjoying a cup of coffee and sharing stories with his friends at the local coffee shop will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Andrew is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Sylvestra Martinez; sister, Simona Martinez; brothers, Gonzalo and Gudelio "Leo" Martinez.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diana Martinez; children, Michael Martinez (Irma Santos), Mandy Perez (Aureliano Jr.), and Mason Martinez (Marina); brother, Gilbert Martinez (Anita); grandchildren, Haley Trevino (Joseph), Amri Martinez, Jalyssa Garcia, Nadia Perez, Roel Perez, Jacob Martinez, McKenzie Martinez, and Jarrett Martinez; great-grandchildren, Caysen and Luke Trevino, and many nieces and nephews which all cared for him very much.
In honor of Andrew's life, a visitation will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the reciting of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home 118 W. Oaklawn Road. Pleasanton, Texas 78064. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church on February 29, 2024, at 10:00 am. The burial service will follow in Garcia Cemetery at FM 476 @ Briones Road, Poteet, Texas 78065.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Andrew Aguero Martinez, let us remember his unwavering dedication, his kind spirit, and the impact he made on all who had the privilege of his acquaintance. May his memory be forever cherished, and may his legacy live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace, Andrew.
