Anne Currie Bernhardt, age 78, died December 17, 2022 following a long illness. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Anne graduated from Alamo Heights High School and was an accomplished musician. She won the Joske award for piano performance when she was 14. Anne studied abroad for a year in Vienna, received a Bachelor's degree in piano pedagogy from the University of Texas at Austin, and later received Masters' degrees in music from University of New York/ Ithaca as well as the University of Colorado at Boulder.
A devoted daughter, sister, and aunt, Anne is survived by her sister, Bettie Bernhardt Borton and her husband, Thomas E. Borton, III, of Cleveland, Tn; nieces Victoria Champion, her husband Daniel Conway, and nephew Lochan, and Sarah Simmons Ames, all of San Antonio, Texas; She is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and George Bernhardt of San Antonio, Texas, and grandparents David and Bettie Howard of Devine, Texas, and Annie and George Bernhardt of El Paso, Texas, as well as many other family members. We rejoice that she is at peace in the presence of God and is reunited with the many loved ones who have preceded her.
A private graveside service for the family will be held later in January at Evergreen Cemetery in Devine, Texas.
