Obituary

Annie Belle Cheatham, a beloved educator and cherished wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born on December 21, 1946, in Three Rivers, Texas to Howard Floyd Crawford and Loretta Mae (Goynes) Crawford. 

Annie dedicated her life to nurturing the minds and spirits of those around her. She was a devoted teacher for 30 years at Three Rivers Independent School District, as well as at Campbellton and Pleasanton Independent School District. Her passion for education was matched only by her commitment to her church. Beyond her role in the classroom, she served as a Sunday School Teacher and a Vacation Bible School Teacher, imparting wisdom and joy to countless children. 

Annie was also a vibrant presence in her church, where she helped lead music and filled the congregation with her spirited enthusiasm. Annie's love extended far beyond her professional endeavors; she was a devoted wife, a proud mother and grandmother. She loved her family unconditionally, and her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Annie's life was a testament to kindness, service, and love. Her warm smile and nurturing spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on her community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Loretta Crawford; son, Jason Cheatham; brother-in-law, Eddie Stainthorpe; and brother, Tim Crawford.

Surviving Annie is her husband, Charles L. Cheatham; children, Shane Cheatham (Shelly), Otto Cheatham (Karey) and Julie Kroschk (Marcel); daughter-in-law, Erica Cheatham; brothers, Howard Crawford (Kathie), Dennis Crawford (Joanna), Charles Crawford (Virginia), Clarence Crawford (Teri), Philip Crawford (Paula) and Gary Crawford (Kellie); sisters, Patricia Staples (James), Barbara Stainthorpe and Shirley Leach (Larry); grandchildren, Ashley Magill (Clay), Cade Cheatham (Tayler), Dylan Cheatham (Baylee), Kaelan Cheatham, Keanu Garcia, Jaxon Cheatham, Beau Cheatham, Andrew Kroschk, William Kroschk, Benjamin Kroschk, and Myles Kroschk; great-grandchildren, Alisen Venske, Adisen Magill, Ayden Magill, Anya Cheatham and Claire Cheatham; and great-great-grandchild, Kennedy Venske.

Pallbearers will be Clayton Magill, Cade Cheatham, Dylan Cheatham, Keanu Garcia, Jaxon Cheatham and Beau Cheatham.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Andrew Kroschk, William Kroschk, Benjamin Kroschk, and Myles Kroschk.

A visitation for Annie Belle Cheatham will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, in the Hurley Funeral Home chapel, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm with family present from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the First Baptist Church – Whitsett, located at 645 FM 99, Whitsett, Texas. Following the service, Annie will be laid to rest at Cheatham Family Cemetery, located at 112 County Road 418, Whitsett, Texas.
