Augustine R Muñoz "Pee-Wee" a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather, brother and uncle to many, and beloved member of the Charlotte community, went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2024, at the age of 92. Born in Crown, Texas on May 5, 1932, to Francisco and Gregoria Muñoz, Augustine faced hardships early in life, dropping out of school at 12 to help support his family. At only 16, he was in the Korean War as a soldier in the Army.
Upon his returning home from the military, he meet the love of his life, Adelfa Alaniz, whom he married on May 21, 1955 and to the day of his passing shared 69 years of marriage.
He is preceed in death by his parents Francisco and Gregoria Muñoz; sons Gilbert Muñoz, and Richard Muñoz,and a daughter Elizabeth Margarita Muñoz; brothers Jesus Muñoz, Jose Muñoz, Enecleto Muñoz, Santos Badillo ( Billie); sisters Estela Muñoz, Anita Luna, and Estela Villarreal, sister-in-law Adelfa M Muñoz.
Throughout his life, Augustine worked tirelessly with various jobs , which ranged from the agriculture to oil fields companies as both a truck driver and tool pusher. From Dawson, Pat Baker to Cape Drilling Company of Tyler Tx. Embracing every opportunity to provide for his family. His selfless nature extended beyond his home as he actively engaged in his community, serving on the Charlotte City Council for numerous years and holding the esteemed position of Mayor of Charlotte for numerous terms as well. He brought a lot of improvements in the city while he severed. Many roads were paved as well as attaining A City Park. Augustine found joy in giving back, as seen through his involvement in the Lions Club and LULAC Club, where he dedicated himself to helping others. His warm demeanor and compassionate spirit made him a cherished figure in the community, with a knack for befriending everyone he met.
An individual with a zest for life, Augustine approached each day with humor and resilience, seldom taking things too seriously. His adventurous spirit led him to embrace every moment with a light heart. He found solace in storytelling, regarding his loved ones with history that brought laughter and joy to all who gathered around him. His memories of our ancestors and there past history that he shared with us will be cherished.
Augustine Munoz is survived by his wife, Adelfa Munoz; son, Albert Munoz; daughters, Anna Sambrano and Lucille Scarborough (Charles); brother, Francisco Munoz Jr (Anita); sisters, Rosa Luna, Mary Hellen Garcia (Nick), Olivia Badillo (Manuel), and Carmen Ramon (Eloy); grandchildren, Jose Hernandez, Jennifer Martin, Brandy Hernandez, Jason Scarborough, Amy Duran, Jeremy Mullins, Jacob Scarborough, Kayla Martinez, Christina "Tina" Munoz, and Albert Munoz Jr.; 22 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The funeral services for Augustine R. Muñoz will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on August 21, 2024, at 10:00 am. Prior to the Mass, a public viewing will take place at Hurley Funeral Home on August 20, 2024, at 5:00 pm, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm. Augustine will be laid to rest in a burial ceremony at Charlotte Community Cemetery.
