Betty Frances Thompson (nèe Jones) beloved mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, at the age of 88 in Pleasanton, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 28, 1937, in Charlotte, Texas to Joseph H Jones and Beatrice Bussell Jones, Betty was known for her unwavering kindness and a fierce love for family. She spent her life dedicated to nurturing her family and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and goulash.

Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Clyde Thompson, and loving children, Karen Bohmfalk (Donnie) and Cregg Thompson (Glenda); her cherished grandchildren: Caleb Thompson (Kyla), Shelby Bohmfalk, Meghan Willis (Jarmon), Emily Arnold, Kailee Thompson, Angie Renaud (Kyle), Christopher Miller (Shayla); and her treasured great-grandchildren: Casen Thompson, Brady Thompson (Sarah), Ryler Thompson, Kinsley Thompson, Elizabeth Willis, Charlotte Willis, Wesley Arnold, Ivy Arnold, Adelyn Miller, Miles Miller, Jamison Renaud.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Joseph and Beatrice Jones; and siblings, Burrell "Jack" Jones, Harold "Buddy" Jones, Alyse Winters, and Jimmie Jo Saunders.

Betty grew up outside of Charlotte and graduated from Charlotte High School in 1955. She reminisced often about her schooldays, including riding to school in the old chicken coop school bus, playing basketball, and beating the bass drum in the band.

Following a year at Trinity University, she attended Draughon's Business College in San Antonio. She married her lifelong love, Clyde Thompson, on December 22, 1956. She soon began a family and a successful career, eventually managing C.M. Thompson and Company, Inc., a dry goods store in Charlotte, through the early 80s. She later worked at Dowdy's Western Wear for several years. Toward the end of her career, Betty become a nationally recognized sales agent for NPS, a funeral prearrangement company. She was recognized as Top Producer in the U.S. for NPS in 1999.

Betty was active in community organizations. She was one of the early board members of Atascosa County Crime Stoppers.

Betty loved Jesus and shared her faith through music, singing in a church choir, often providing solos for services, weddings, and funerals. She had a beautiful voice. She was a member of several Baptist churches over the years, including First Baptist of Charlotte, Pleasanton, Harper, and Ingram.

Betty spent her latter years loving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart.

Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Caleb Thompson, Shelby Bohmfalk, Christopher Miller, and great grandsons, Casen Thompson, Brady Thompson, and Ryler Thompson. Honorary pallbearer will be Betty's grandson-in-law, Jarmon Willis.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Monday, April 13th at 10:00 a.m. at Hurley's Funeral Home with James Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Baptist Children's Home or to the Charlotte Cemetery Association.
