In Loving Memory of Beverly Ramsay

Beverly Ramsay, born on February 14, 1940, in Phillips, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, in Pleasanton, Texas. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Beverly is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Paul and Mertice Roeder, and her cherished siblings, Carol, Kay, Melody, and John.

She is survived by her loving husband John R., sister Paulette, children Patrick (Sally), David (Norma), Michael (Michelle), and Cynthia (Gilbert). Her grandchildren John, Christopher, Gilbert Ray, Jacquelynn, Paul, Matthew, Nikki, Josiah, Sara, and Katelyn, along with 14 great-grandchildren; all who brought her immeasurable joy.

After graduating from High School in Phillips, WI, she travelled on her own to Omaha, NE.  There she attended a clerical school which helped her find a job in Los Angeles, CA.,   where she met the love of her life, John R. Ramsay.  They dated for less than six months before they decided to marry.  They were married in Saint Ann's Catholic Church in Seal Beach, California, March 11, 1959.  They were happily married for 66 years.

As the wife of a career military man, she traveled extensively all over the world.  She found beauty in each new country they lived and visited and made it a point to learn the language of the country they were stationed in.

Beverly dedicated her professional life to serving others as an Executive Assistant at Ft. Sam Houston and later at the Veteran's Administration in Northern Illinois, where she retired after many years of hard work and unwavering commitment. Her passion for helping military members and their families went beyond her duties, and she volunteered her time at places such as "Home of the Sparrow," a nonprofit that helps women and children transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency.  Her kindness and selflessness knew no bounds.

A gifted artist, Beverly shared her creative spirit through painting, crocheting, drawing, and sewing. She lovingly crafted clothing, costumes, and stuffed animals for her children and grandchildren. Her artistic talents brought beauty while creating memorable moments for her family.

Each year, Beverly painted beautiful holiday scenes on the glass windows of the home she lived.  At Christmas, she showed her children that the gift of giving to the less fortunate was a gift unto itself.  For many years, she handmade dolls, doll outfits, bears, and clothing for others.  Her giving heart filled the world with beauty and light.

Beverly was a woman of grace and elegance, known for her warmth and kindness. Her home was a sanctuary of love, always welcoming.  She made every gathering a cherished occasion, filled with love, laughter, and heartfelt connection.

Her legacy of love, creativity, and service will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew her. While she will be deeply missed, her kindness and generosity will live on forever in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

A mass will be held in her honor at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, TX.  Beverly will be laid to rest on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
