Beverly Gail Matthews Shearrer passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Pleasanton. She was born February 18, 1937, in Poteet, to Sidney Matthews and Audrey Nell (Hickey) Matthews.

Beverly was a longtime and faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she devoted her time to teaching Sunday School and sharing her love of music as a member of the church choir. Her faith and service were an important part of her life.

She was actively involved in her community and held memberships in the Jourdanton Chamber of Commerce, the Fall Fair Association, the Atascosa County Fair Association, and the Jourdanton Cactus Kick Association.

Beverly worked as a florist and was known for her creativity and attention to detail. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, playing the piano, fishing, and spending time with friends and family playing dominoes. Her many interests reflected her warm personality and love of both creativity and companionship.

Beverly will be remembered for her dedication to her church, her community involvement, and the joy she found in serving others.

She was preceded by her parents, son Tommy Dean Shearrer, siblings Sydney Dare, and Sandra Williams.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years Carl "Tinker" Shearrer, daughter-in-law Sharon Yow Shearrer, sons Randy Shearrer (Sharon Pesek Shearrer), Justin Shearrer (Natalie Wadkins Shearrer), brother Billy Matthews (Darla), grandchildren Wesley Shearrer (Magen), Matthew Shearrer (Amanda), Megan Shearrer Martin (James), Mindy Shearrer Giebel (Mark), Melany Shearrer Vu (Chris), Cody Shearrer (Jordan), Sadie Shearrer, Callie Wadkins, great-grandchildren Branch Shearrer, Lillie Shearrer, Will Shearrer, JW Martin, Audrey Martin, Haley Giebel, Grayson Giebel, Austin Vu, Victoria Vu, and one baby Vu on the way.

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, a visitation will start at 9:00 am with a celebration of life at 10:00 AM in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.
