Billy Orville Groesbeck passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 76 at his home in Poteet, Texas. Billy is survived by his wife Diane, his daughter Molly, his son Gregory, grandsons James and Keith, granddaughter Miranda, brother Robert Lee, sisters Betty Ann and Sallie and sisters-in-law Linda (Bob) and Paula (Mel).

Billy was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 14, 1949, to Frank and Etta Mae Groesbeck. He graduated in 1968 from Canyon High School in New Braunfels, Texas.  Billy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on USS Hoel from 1969 to 1971. On March 17, 1972, Billy married Diane and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage. In 1977, they moved to Poteet, where they resided in the home they built together for 48 years.  Billy was the youngest of 10 children, he loved his brothers and sisters dearly. He is predeceased by his brothers Tommy (Pert) and Richard, and brothers in-law Eddie (Sallie), Brent, Ray (Betty Ann), and his sisters, Dorothy, Florence (Jerry), Martha (Jay), and Geneva (Leonard) and sisters-in-law Debbie (William), Sharon (Robert Lee), and Judy. Billy was known as Bill, Dad, Papa, Uncle Bill, and "Wild Bill" by many of his 30 beloved nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

Bill followed in the footsteps of his father and brothers working as a carpenter and welder and finally retiring in 2013 as a construction superintendent. He also loved his time teaching wood shop and welding at Somerset ISD. He enjoyed woodwork, playing guitar, and being outdoors working in his yard and fishing with his son-in-law Eddie and his grandsons. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan— the "Cardiac Cowboys" as he referred to them in the later years. Most of all he loved listening to "old" country music and dancing with Diane.

Services will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 1:15 pm (Shelter #2).
