Burlene Lois Blalock of Jourdanton passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026, lived a life marked by love, dedication, and service to others.

Burlene moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she began building a life and career for herself. She worked for Aetna Life Insurance, and it was during this chapter of her life that she met the love of her life Vance T. Blalock, Jr. The two were married on November 12, 1966, beginning a loving partnership and a lifetime of cherished memories together.

Throughout the years, Burlene continued to work hard and share her many talents with those around her. She later cooked at Stage Stop, worked at Benz and Klumb, and served as a substitute teacher. Whether working in an office, serving her community, or stepping into the classroom, Burlene brought dedication and care to everything she did.

More than the places she worked or the roles she held, Burlene will be remembered for the life she lived and the people she loved. Her story was one of commitment, perseverance, and devotion to family. The memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband Vance T. Blalock, Jr., son Robert Blalock and wife Maria; granddaughter Emily Antoinette Blalock Hamilton and husband Michael Lee Hamilton.

Burlene is preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl Blalock and parents Burlie and Helen Rhodes.

Visitation is Friday, August 28, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hurley Funeral Home. Services will be on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow services at the Christine City Cemetery in Christine.
