Carl passed away peacefully at home at the age of 96.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rubell (Johnson) and Sam Houston Thomas and wife Dorothy (Hardin) Thomas.

He is survived by his daughter Linda (Curtis) Moczygemba, granddaughter Ashlie (Charles) Williams, great-grandchildren Ella and Hayden Williams, sisters Betty Jane (Phil) Freier and Mary Ellen Carmack, as well as brother-in-law William H. (Glenda) Hardin and numerous nieces and nephews.

A lifelong resident in San Antonio, Carl graduated from Burbank High School. After graduating, he served his country in the United States Navy. Upon returning, he worked at City Public Service for 41 years before retiring in 1989. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved playing golf with his friends from CPS. He was known as a good friend who was ready to help neighbors, family and friends. He lived a wonderful, full life and will be missed by his family until they meet again.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Dina Goytia-Leos for her exceptional care during his final years and to the caring staff at VITAS Hospice who provided home care during his final months.

A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Rutledge Cemetery, in Poteet, starting at 10:00 am.
