Carole Jene Shipley leapt into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. She was born on March 10, 1952 in Cleburne, Texas and was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Wynnogene Shipley, and her brother Clifford  Wayne Shipley.

Carole is survived by her sister, Karen Shipley; sister-in-law Suzanne Shipley-Phillips; niece, Leslie Smith (Troy); nephew, Brett Shipley (Tanya); great-nieces, Annie Owens (Ryan), Suzanna Kuchel (Jeff) and Makenzie Clanton; great-nephews, Colton Shipley and Hal Smith; along with numerous friends.

Carole grew up in Joshua, Texas, graduating from Joshua High School in 1970. She left Joshua, first to attend and graduate from Howard Payne University where she obtained a Bachelor degree in Secondary Education. Carole then moved to Charlotte, Texas where she taught middle school language arts. She continued her 36 year career in education by expanding into counseling in Poteet and Pleasanton after receiving her Master's degree. Her last venture in education was to serve as Testing Coordinator for Pleasanton High School.

Upon retirement from Pleasanton ISD, Carole turned to community involvement. She volunteered at Bountiful Blessings, a local food pantry and served as an election judge for numerous local, state and federal elections. One of her favorite activities for the last 15 years was working at Pleasanton volleyball and basketball games where her attention to detail and her accuracy was appreciated by players, coaches and referees.  This activity allowed Carole to be involved with students again - something she cherished.

Creativity and crafts were in her genes. After retiring, she dove into the art of quilting and made many beautiful quilts. Then she took up machine embroidery and created unique items, most of which she shared with friends and family. Carole kept a "stash" of her handmade things in her home that she could select from to give away whenever there was a need.

Above all, Carole loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and sought ways to serve Him throughout her life. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Pleasanton, where she sang in the adult choir, played in the handbell choir, served on many committees and was involved in women's and children's (AWANAS) bible studies. Carole loved to cook and she shared that love in preparing snacks for Vacation Bible School, cooking and serving Wednesday night meals, and providing food and comfort through her leadership of the Funeral Meal Committee

Carole will be remembered for her love of Jesus, family and friends and her willingness to give of herself to express that love to those around her.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her FBC and Pleasanton friends for their unwavering and generous support of Carole throughout her battle with cancer.  Your kindness has meant so much, and they thank the Lord for each of you.

A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, Pleasanton, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1:30 pm.  On Friday, January 30, 2026 a graveside service will take place at Caddo Cemetery, located at 6700 FM HWY 1902, Joshua, Texas 76058, starting at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Funeral Meal Fund at the First Baptist Church, Pleasanton at 400 N. Reed Street, Pleasanton, Texas 78064.
