Charles "Chuck" Preston Ramsey, 81, of Pleasanton, Texas, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home surrounded by his family on the evening of Friday, September 22, 2023. Chuck was born on March 17, 1942 in Marion, Illinois. He was the youngest of three children. He was raised by his paternal grandparents on their ranch in Henley, Texas. Chuck graduated from Johnson City High School in 1961. He worked for IBM Computers in Austin, Texas before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1962. He served as a Loadmaster on C-130 aircraft until he completed his honorable service to our country in 1966. He was blessed with three children, Ronald Charles in 1964 , Rhonda Kay in 1966, and Roxanne Marie in 1968, and three bonus children Eric Lee in 1966, and twin daughters Karlen Gay and Karen Dee in 1970.
Throughout the years, Chuck worked at San Miguel Electric Co-op Inc. for 11 years. After having worked as a Police Officer in Wyoming in 1973, Chuck returned to his love of Law Enforcement where he worked at the Pleasanton Police Department and then the San Antonio Police Department where he retired in 2016. Chuck Ramsey was known by many as a quiet, kind gentleman. He loved the outdoors and all wildlife. His life's greatest passion was being dedicated to and deeply in love with his wife Charlotte (Parker) Ramsey for one month short of 49 years. Chuck and Charlotte loved to travel and explore the U.S. in their motorhome. He also deeply loved his time spent making precious memories with his beloved children and grandchildren.
Chuck is survived by his son, Ronald Ramsey and wife Shelly; his daughter, Rhonda Ramsey and daughter-in-law, Wendy Calhoun; his son, Eric Yerkes; his daughter, Karlen Brown and husband Matt; his daughter, Karen Harris and Jim Harris, and 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Harold and Amelia Pearl Ramsey, his sister, JoAnn Ramsey, his brother, Sonny Ramsey, and his daughter, Roxanne Da Camara-Canto.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 14th at 3:00pm at the Pleasanton First Methodist Church on Main Street.
