Charles Napoleon
Welch
Jul 9, 1953 — Feb 16, 2024
Life is but a Resting Place, a pause in what's meant to be, a Resting Place along the road to sweet eternity, and when the journey finally ends we will claim a great reward. A final Resting Place together with our Lord.
Charles Napoleon Welch's journey ended on February 16, 2024 at the very young age of 70. Without a doubt, he was a beloved husband, son, father, uncle, and friend to everyone. Charles was born on July 9, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas to proud parents, Willie and Lillie Welch.
Charles attended Poteet High School. He had a passion for horses, but guitars, motorcycles, and fast cars seemed to bring him much joy. Growing up in Poteet, meant spending evenings sitting around with his sisters playing the guitar and singing.
Charles met the love of his life, Mary Beth Smith in 1970. From that moment on he knew he found his forever. Charles and Mary Beth were married on February 10, 1972. They have two sons, Charles Edward Welch, and Tyler Welch, and one beautiful daughter, Dana Danette Welch.
In the later years, Charles was into racing cars at San Antonio Raceway, fishing with his brother, brothers-in-law, gambling, and hunting. His profession was selling cars at Gilliam Auto Sales.
Charles was infectious in his laughter. We all know that his aggravating and stirring the pot would be one of the things that would make him have that grin that we all knew and loved.
His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Beth Welch; sons, Charles Edward Welch (Rosie), and Tyler Welch (Bailey); daughter, Dana (Welch) Cherry; grandchildren, Tessa Jacobs (JD), Lillie Welch, and Sage Welch, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lillie Welch; son-in-law, Rodger Cherry; brothers, Davie Lee Welch, Willie Welch Jr., John A. Welch, and Edward Welch; sisters, Margie Oetken, and Ima Jean Welch, and brothers-in-law, Willie Mazur and Johnny Japort.
