Chrysta Pearl Riley was born on Christmas Day, 1929 on a ranch in New Mexico to loving parents, Ruby and Charley Riley. The family had just sat down for their holiday dinner when events began to unfold. Their third child was born shortly thereafter to a family that would eventually number nine children.

After a time in New Mexico her parents decided to move to the Lytle area where they put down roots.  Chrysta, a bright child, was moved ahead in grade school.  She made lifelong friends during her school years graduating early from Lytle High School in 1946.  She had plans to attend college very much encouraged by her parents but fate intervened.  She met and married her husband of 66 years, Cecil Moore. Together with their later to arrive daughter, Celia, they traveled together to stateside and overseas destinations as Cecil built his military career in the US Air Force.

Along the way, Chrysta, while working full time with the civil service found a way to attend college and earn her BA degree in business.
Eventually they both retired and treated their grandchildren to some summertime fun at their beach house near Galveston.  Attracted to traveling by RV they decided to explore the US with their many beloved pets and when free their grandchildren plus family and friends.  At one point in their earlier lives they talked of a trip on motorcycles traveling the length of North and South America.  In the end RV's won them over.
Chrysta, during their travels, found an interest in family genealogy.  She and her sister Annie spent many hours researching various family members and would often plan trips to find gravesites and homesites to understand their family connections. During this period Chrysta joined many groups related to history and family connection.  She and her sister would meet many new friends in these pursuits, enjoying the thrill of discovery and life long learning in addition to making contributions to their communities.

Cecil and Chrys loved their animal buddies and enjoyed their companionship over their lifetimes. Their love of their animal friends was something they both shared and counted as a bond.  They also loved music and loved to dance.  Visiting with family and friends as they traveled to many destinations kept them connected throughout their lives as dedicated RV'ers.

Her husband and love of her life passed away in 2014.  For the ten years since his passing she has kept herself busy with her family and friends, traveling when possible and continuing her participation with many groups she has joined.  She has four grandchildren, along with a number of great grandchildren plus great great grandchildren!  When she was freshly retired with 2 of her grandchildren she once rode the Rattler at Six Flags…twice! And with all 4 of her grandchildren she ventured to England to honor the 398th bombardier group her husband flew with in WW2…at age 84.

One of her heroines when she was young was Annie Oakley.  Currently, she makes her home at an assisted living facility and her roomie is GG her loving wonder cat! She was feted on her 95th birthday with a surprise party….and she was very surprised!  She passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, with GG steadfast by her side.

She is survived by her daughter, Celia (Patrick), stepson, Ray (Millie), grandchildren, Lisa (Joe), David, Alexis (Josh), Eliot (Danielle).

Her family would like to thank the many kind and caring people who helped her in her daily life at Argent Court and later from Trinity Hospice services.  Most especially we want to acknowledge Florinda Santos and family for the loving attention and kindness that they gave to Chrysta enriching her life immensely.

A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, 2025 starting at 10:30 am at Lytle Community Cemetery, located at the corner of Laredo Street and N. Benton Street, Lytle, Texas.
