Obituary

Claude "Bubba" Thomas Woodlee Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather and cherished friend, passed away on June 3, 2026, at the age of 82, in San Antonio, TX. Born on January 28, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, Bubba was known for his dry sense of humor, which often kept those around him guessing whether he was serious or joking. A true Texan at heart, he spent his life dedicated to his family and the community.

Bubba served his country honorably in the United States Air Force as an avionics technician, where he honed his problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Following his service, he founded Atascosa Materials over 50 years. Alongside his wife they founded Bar K Icehouse and managed its operations for 30 years, leaving an indelible mark on the industry and earning the respect of all who worked with him.

Bubba's unwavering commitment to quality and organization was evident in both his professional and personal life. A master tinkerer, he took joy in fixing things and finding solutions, never backing down from a challenge. Those lucky enough to enter his inner circle knew they had gained a true friend, as Bubba was selective about who he let in, yet fiercely loyal once you were included. His easy-going nature made him a calming presence, and he faced life's uncertainties with a serene spirit, never worrying or stressing over the challenges that came his way.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Debra Woodlee, whose companionship and support enriched his life immensely. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the beauty of shared moments, many of which came from their travels in the RV to Colorado every summer to escape the Texas heat.

In honoring Bubba's memory, a visitation will be held on June 10, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hurley Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the remarkable life of Claude "Bubba" Woodlee. He will be laid to rest at Pleasanton Cemetery, where his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.

In reflecting on Bubba's life, we remember not only his accomplishments but the warmth, humor, and kindness he shared with everyone around him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

Bubba was preceded in death by: father, Claude Woodlee Sr., mother, Caroline Woodlee, son, Jesse Woodlee, brother-in-law, Sonny Leigh and son-in-law, Craig Turner.  He survived by wife, Debbie Woodlee; children, Carol Soliz (Martin), Chris Conatser, Mackenzie Turner and John "Bud" Conatser (Shanna); 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and his sister, Patsy Leigh.
