San Antonio
Clemente Salas Gonzales of San Antonio, TX
1949-2022
Clemente Salas Gonzales of San Antonio passed away on October 19, 2022, at the age of 72. Clemente was born on November 21, 1949, in Leming, Texas, to Gumecindo and Andrea Gonzales who have preceded him in death. He was raised on a farm in Leming, Texas, and attended Pleasanton High School. After graduating high school in 1968, he attended Southwest Texas Junior College for 2 years before he went to Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. He graduated in 1972 with a degree in agricultural. After college, he worked for the Texas Department of Agriculture where he traveled around the United States and Central America inspecting farms. However, his entrepreneurial spirit caused him to leave working for the government and start his own real estate company, C.S. Gonzales & Associates. In addition to his real estate company, he also started several small businesses. He opened several shoe repairs around San Antonio and the surrounding areas, a small barbacoa store, and he built and flipped houses. In his free time, Clemente was also an active member of LULAC to help fight for the civil rights of Hispanics. In the end, helping people through real estate was always his passion, and he was a broker for over 40 years.
He wed Mary Alice Carrasco on December 8, 1973, in San Antonio, TX. They raised three children who gave him plenty of laughs and joy. While he once joked that he regrets raising "city kids" instead of raising them on a farm, he also stated that they were the best thing he ever did in his life.
He is survived by his wife Mary Alice Gonzales, children Monica Gonzales, Clemente Gonzales (Melissa), and Amy Lynn Gonzales, grandchildren Alexa Barth, Arianna Gonzales, and Emelia Gonzales, his sister Philomena Martinez (Richard), and brother Apolonio Gonzales (Maria), as well as many nieces and nephews.
