Clifton Bishop, 86, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on August 9, 2023.  He was born on September 9, 1936 in London, Texas to George Washington Bishop and Bessie Bell Nelson Bishop.  Clifton is a veteran of the US Army; worked as a paint and body repair technician; and spent many years working at SeaWorld of Texas.  He loved working with his hands.  There wasn't much he couldn't fix.  He also loved old cars, collecting tools, and his morning coffee.

He was a loving husband and father who always ensured his family was provided for.  His greatest joy, however, was being PaPa to his five grandkids.  PaPa loved spoiling them with unlimited soda, ice cream, candy, and anything else they wanted.  He was even known on occasion to allow ice cream and donuts for breakfast when left unsupervised.

Clifton was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bessie Bishop; 6 brothers; 2 sisters and his son, Clifton Bishop, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sharon Bishop; daughters, Leslie Deremer and her husband Neal, and Brandy Whiteley and her husband Michael; grandchildren, Ethan and Evan Deremer, and Alyssa, Kennedy and Aaron Whiteley; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

There will be a graveside service held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, on Friday, August 25, 2023 starting at 9:45 am at Shelter 5.
