Obituary

Cresencia M. Gonzalez, 75, of Charlotte, TX passed away on May 14, 2023, in Jourdanton, TX. She was born on October 2, 1947 in Crown, TX to Cecilio D. Munoz and Santos Arredondo.

Cresencia started her life in the cotton fields but being the apple of her daddy's eye became the overseer and learned to drive her dad's tandem at a very young age. She then became responsible for carrying the crew and weighing the cotton-picking sacks that now reside at the National Museum of American History. She was self-taught and enrolled herself in college where she was named on the Dean's list every semester while graduating with honors at the top of her class as salutatorian.

Cresencia was an extraordinary mother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. Cresencia was a very proud ER Nurse for many years. She was a caregiver with a compassionate and genuine heart. She also helped raise her sister Ernestina Munoz whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed baking cakes and decorating them, she even took classes to get better.  She was a perfectionist in crocheting which she taught herself, was a big fan of the WWE even getting the opportunity to attend a few live matches, and spent many hours playing on her iPad and phone. Cresencia loved to read and read hundreds of books and newspapers, she even loved working the crossword puzzles. There wasn't a crossword puzzle she couldn't finish. She was a proud member of the Guadalupana Society. Cresencia loved her family, especially her grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and looked forward to family gatherings every chance she had. She was a quick-witted lady who enjoyed joking and laughing. Cresencia was a very giving and loving person who would go above and beyond for anyone.

Cresencia was preceded in death by her parents Cecilio D. and Santos Munoz; first love Sotero S. Garza Sr.; and Second husband Pedro S. Gonzalez Sr.; daughter Priscilla Garza Ojeda; son Sotero Garza Jr.; granddaughter Sara M. Sambrano; grandson Sammy Sambrano Jr.; great-granddaughter Elena L. Nuncio and brother Roger Munoz.

She is survived by her children Racquel Gaitan (Mario), Camille Gonzales, and Pedro Gonzales Jr.; brother Juan Munoz; sisters Ernestina Munoz (Arturo), Velia Gonzales, Brenda Munoz, Margarita Luna (Mike), Beatrice Lozano; Esther Calvillo (Santos), Petra Sambrano (Fred), and Alejandra Burdick (Doug); grandchildren Roxanne (Fernando), Michael, Brandon, Rochelle, Cresencia(Jason), Jessica, Miranda, Marquel (Dominique), Joshua, Juan Jr., Alexis, Keira, Arianna, and Serena; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pall Bearers: Mario Gaitan, Joshua Gaitan, Pedro Gonzales Jr., Arturo Cordova, Dominique Cruz and Jason Barrera.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the reciting of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Charlotte where services will conclude.
