Darla Shields Hughan, age 57,of San Antonio Tx went home to be with the Lord on March 5,2023, with her beloved husband, Ron Hughan. Darla was born in Corpus Christi Tx to Sherry and Dean Monse.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ron Hughan, mother, Sherry Shields, father, Dean Monse, brother, William Monse and sister, Elizabeth Monse.

She is survived by her daughters, Erica Orr (Robert), Ashley Shields, father to her children, Ben Shields (Michelle).  Her best friend and beloved sister, Deana Shields, brother, Luke Redus (Karla), two other sisters, Carolyn Padier and Christi Monse, Her Two nieces whom she considered daughters, Amanda Monse (Jesse) and Monica McNinch (Jason), her 7 grandchildren Mikayla, Madison, Kyan, Kaden, Kylie, Nolan, and Camden and one great grandchild, Xavian, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Darla loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very social and truly enjoyed making other people happy. She was a giver and never asked for anything in return. She enjoyed gardening, finding great deals and bargains, and riding motorcycles with her husband. She never met a stranger. If you had the pleasure of meeting Darla you couldn't help but love her. Her smile and positive attitude radiated and was contagious.  She had developed her own special bond with everyone she knew. Darla worked in healthcare for over 25 years. During that time she met hundreds of people, most of which she considered family. She also worked for NAI and really enjoyed the hands on work. She did everything she could to help others. To say Darla was and still is loved would be an understatement. She was not only a mother, Oma, Wife, Sister, and Aunt, she was a best friend and a true Angel on earth.  She had a heart of gold and go getter attitude that was unlike any others. While we will never have the answers as to why she was so suddenly taken from this earth, the family takes peace in knowing that she was loved beyond measure and she knew that every day of her life.

Memorial services will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton Tx on April 2,2023, at 2 pm.
