Poteet
David Lee Garza, Jr., 44, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 30, 2026.
David was born on August 7, 1981, in San Antonio, Texas, to David Lee Garza, Sr. and Sandra Cumpian-Reyes. He was a devoted husband, loving father, son, brother, and friend whose presence brought joy and strength to those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Garza, with whom he shared 16 years together and 13 years of marriage; their two sons, David Lee Garza, III and Davian Lane Garza; his parents, David Lee Garza, Sr. (Josie) and Sandra Cumpian-Reyes (Gene); his siblings, Eric Garza, Marco Cervantes, Stephanie, Matthew, Mattilyn, Destiny, and Rigo; and his grandmothers, Barbara Garza and Andrea Cumpian. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and many lifelong friends who meant so much to him.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Antonio A. Garza and Tero C. Cumpian.
David worked in the oilfield in South Texas as a Safety Technician, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. Outside of work, he found his greatest joy in being surrounded by family and friends.
David had a one-of-a-kind personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He valued his friendships deeply, especially those that began in childhood and remained strong throughout his life. He grew up surrounded by the Tejano music scene and loved watching and listening to his father's band, along with countless other musicians over the years. He loved to barbecue whenever he had the chance and cherished the time spent gathered with the people he loved most. He also enjoyed attending baseball games with his family and took great pride in watching his sons play.
David will be remembered for his loyalty, his love for his family, and the way he made people feel welcomed, valued, and at home. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
