It is with great love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Clarence Magel (72). He passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022, in Pleasanton, Texas. David was born on Tuesday, June 13, 1950, in Kenedy, Texas, to Clarence E. Magel and Bernice (Haverlah) Magel.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Bernice Magel.

David is survived by his loving wife, Bernice Sally Magel; children, Lisa Alanis and husband Joey of Cibolo, Texas, Tricia Magel of Pleasanton, Texas; brother, James "Jimmy" Magel and wife Bernice; grandchildren, Emma Alanis, Roman Alanis and numerous extended family and friends.

David graduated from Pleasanton High School, class of 1968. He married the love of his life Bernice "Sally" and celebrated their 50th anniversary this past June. He worked as a truck driver and CDL driving instructor until he retired. Afterwards, he continued working and maintaining the family farm in Pawnee, Texas. He truly loved this work and took pride in everything he did. He was an active member of his church at St. John Lutheran. He was a kid at heart, loved animals and children, most of all his grandkids, Emma and Roman. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, Spurs and Astros games. He was a kind man and will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The family will be available from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be on Friday November 4, 2022 at 10:00 am. All services will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, Pleasanton. Interment to follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Jourdanton, Texas.
