David Riley, born at home in Jourdanton, Texas, on October 24, 1949, passed away on October 18, 2023, at home in Charlotte, Texas surrounded by his family.

He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. David was married to Toni Riley, née Nixon for 43 years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Clara Riley, father-in-law Quinton Nixon, sister, Thelma Riley, and daughter, Allison Akers.

He is survived by his mother-in-law, Johnnie Nixon, his loving wife, Toni Riley, and children: Jamette and husband, Michael Moyer, Leigh Ann Collins, Jay Riley, and Zachary Riley. His memory will also be cherished by his siblings: JA and wife, Ann "Chuck," George and wife, Donna, Ola and husband, Mike, and Jimmy and wife, Brenda, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, David and Kim Nixon.

David's legacy lives on through his numerous grandchildren: Bradley, Brayden, Brenton, Courtney, Garrison, Kaylee, Kristen, Jaycee, Meagan, Quinton, and Shelby, and his great-grandchildren: Ainsley, Anderson, Brandon, Catalina, Chloe, Ellie, Harold, Kacela, Wayden, Weston, and Wylie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many close friends who cherished his company.

David's presence was like a warm Texas embrace, and his kind spirit brought joy to all who knew him. David Riley served his country with honor during the Vietnam War as a radio operator. His musical inclination was evident throughout his life, having written his first song at the young age of fourteen. He shared his passion with countless people, performing to enthusiastic crowds all over Texas. His music touched hearts and brought happiness to those fortunate enough to experience it. In South Texas, it seemed as if David knew everyone, and his friendly demeanor and musical talent made him a local legend. He leaves behind a void that cannot be filled.

A memorial to celebrate David's life will be held at Hurley Funeral Home on October 28, 2023, at 11:00 am. A funeral reception will follow at the Show Barn in Pleasanton. His final resting place will be at Fort Sam Houston, to be interred at a later date. David Riley's memory will forever resonate in our hearts, and his music will continue to bring joy to those who listen. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
