Delia Beatrice Walker Swaim
Delia "Dee" Beatrice Walker Swaim of Poteet (formerly Granbury, Texas), passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, surrounded by family at the age of 90. Dee was born in Wilson, Oklahoma on April 30, 1935, to Charlie Walker and Emmer Gillespie Walker, the youngest of 13 siblings.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband, Arthur Swaim.
She is survived by her son, Larry Wagner Jr. and wife Kathy of Poteet; step-daughters, Vickie Barnett and husband Mark, Valrie Hargreaves and husband David of Fort Worth; grandson, Morgan Wagner and wife Shelby, granddaughters, Shawnie Veldhuizen and husband CJ, Rebekah Wilson and husband Justin, and bonus granddaughter, Alexsandra Vanderbilt and husband Dusty; great-grandchildren, Rhylee, Rory and Reese Wagner; Jerrah, Elaina and McKinley Veldhuizen; Elizabeth Wilson; John Vanderbilt and baby Vanderbilt due in June. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who knew her as "Aunt Sissy".
Dee was a retired secretary from Brown and Root (Comanche Peak). She loved being a homemaker and was most well known for her ability to sew and crochet. She made many clothes for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren even into her later years. She crocheted baby blankets for literally anyone who asked, numbering into the hundreds. She was an amazing cook and spent many hours in the kitchen. Dee never served less than a three-course meal and was most notorious for her chocolate gravy served over homemade biscuits. Nobody left her house hungry! She and her late husband Arthur loved playing cards and dominoes, passing that love down to their grandchildren.
Dee was loved by all who knew her. She met everyone with a smile and never met a stranger. She loved her Lord and savior and looked forward to the day she joined him. Please join us in celebrating Dee with a visitation at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton on Friday, January 30, 2026 starting at 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with family present from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, starting at 9:00 am at Shiloh Cemetery in Leming with a meal to follow at 1200 Bensdale Road Pleasanton, Texas 78064. Dee was a true delight. Please feel free to wear bright clothes celebrating the brightness she brought to the world.
Pallbearers are Morgan Wagner, C.J. Veldhuizen, Justin Wilson, Dusty Vanderbilt, Russell Calliham and Bret Jinkins. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Walker, Ruben Perez and David Umphress.
