Aurora Enedelia "Delia" Guereca, 92, of Pleasanton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on October 21, 2025. She was born in Devine, Texas on July 19, 1933, the third of six children.

In life, Delia was an active and vibrant woman. Her life was filled with many kinds of gratifying activities but one of the things that brought her the most happiness was cooking meals for others to enjoy. She hosted many gatherings and always made everyone feel welcome and loved. The aromas of homemade meals greeted visitors at her door and filled her kitchen daily. There was always plenty of food for anyone that stopped by. Some of her best and most requested dishes were enchiladas, carne guisada, caldo de res, pinto beans and calabaza con pollo.

During her working years, Delia made her living as a waitress. She moved across the floors of many restaurants with her smiling face and warm conversation. She often gushed over the tremendous tips left on her tables which she said confirmed her exceptional performance and professional service. She worked hard and applied the lessons her father taught her about the value of a dollar. Over time, she was able to provide a life of modest comfort for herself and her children. When extra money was saved, Delia delighted in garage sale and thrift store shopping. Simple treasures and unique finds filled her closets
and home.

Delia was a source of wisdom and light to all who knew her. She was always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her impact on family and friends is far-reaching, spanning generations. She was a surrogate mother to many and was called upon to carry burdens of those left behind. Each person who loved and knew Delia can pinpoint a life lesson, a tender kindness, or a significant generosity she gave. She is the embodiment of a life well lived. She will be deeply missed.

Delia is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Guereca of Pleasanton, a son, Mario Mejia and wife Elizabeth of Pleasanton and a sister, Irma Luna of Pleasanton. She is also survived by many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham Saenz, Sr. and Aurora Saenz, her sons, Johnnie Ray Mejia, Sr., Charles Roy Mejia, Sr. and Michael Adam Mejia, Sr., her daughter, Ysabel Anita De La O, her brothers, Abraham Saenz, Jr., Charles Saenz, Sr. and Johnny Saenz and her sister Mary Ann Gallegos.

Pallbearers: David De La O, Jr., Johnnie Ray Mejia, Jr., Mario Mejia Jr., Zane Mejia, Kristofer Olivarez and Chano Roman.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the reciting of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home.  Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at St. Andrew Catholic Church with interment following at San Ysidro Cemetery.
