It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dolores Rangel Ortiz, a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted homemaker, who left this world peacefully on December 2, 2025, at the age of 86. Dolores was born on February 12, 1939, in Floresville, Texas, and spent her later years in Pleasanton, Texas, where she dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a loving home.
Dolores was an exceptional homemaker, pouring love into every meal she cooked and ensuring her family's needs were always met. She had a passion for cooking, dancing, and shopping, which brightened the lives of all who knew her. Her warm smile and generous spirit were evident in the way she raised her children and the countless cherished moments she spent with her grandchildren. Dolores had a unique ability to make every gathering a joyous celebration filled with laughter and love.
Dolores is survived by her daughters, Rosalinda Salazar (Pablo), and Oralia Antu (Roberto); sons, Jesse Ortiz, Jerry Ortiz, Antonio "Tony" Ortiz, and Juan "Johnny" Ortiz (Michelle); sister Virginia R. Garcia (Amadeo); brother Domingo Rangel; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, who will carry her memory forward in their hearts and the hearts of her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the reciting of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. On Wednesday, December 17 at St. Andrew Catholic Church and burial following in Leal Cemetery.
Dolores Rangel Ortiz will be deeply missed but will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
Dolores was preceded in death by husband Jesus C. Ortiz, Jr; parents Rosalio and Eusebia Rangel; daughter Mary Ann Ortiz; sisters Katherine R. Delgado, Lydia (Minnie) Sanchez, Marguerita R. Castillo; half-sister Juana R. Gonzales; and brothers Fidencio, Kanuto, Willie and Reynaldo Rangel.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Ortiz, Joseph Salazar, Robert Antu, Anthony Ortiz, Joshua Bosquez and Eric Balderas.
