Domingo Martinez of Pleasanton passed away on January 21, 2025, in San Antonio. He was born on November 23, 1939, to Mercedes and Juanita Martinez.

Domingo grew up in Pleasanton and graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1959, a Golden Gloves Champion in San Antonio, he excelled in all sports. He played football and ran track for Pleasanton High School. His senior year, he set the Pleasanton High School record for the mile; a record that stood for many years.

Shortly after high school, he joined the Army Reserve, married his high school sweetheart, and committed to regular active-duty military service in the United States Air Force as a Strategic Air Command (6 CAMS) Aircraft Mechanic and Crew Chief; initially trained on the B-47 Bomber, and later serving as a B-52 Crew Chief in Vietnam. After his service, in Vietnam, Domingo served at Biggs AFB in El Paso, Texas, Grissom AFB in Indiana, and retired as a KC135 Crew Chief at Eielson AFB in Alaska. He continued his service as a Federal Civil Servant until retirement and then moving back to Pleasanton with his wife, Elida.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed gardening, and spending time with his family. He was a great father, teacher, mentor, and motivator. Domingo was a Hero to his family. He loved to see anyone succeed, and was quick to help guide and encourage them all the way through to meeting their goals.

Despite the many challenges of his life and setbacks in his health, he never gave up hope that he would heal and progress. Doing exercises from his wheelchair every morning without fail.

In his final years, he loved to spend time visiting friends and family. Talking and laughing about time past and shared memories. Domingo will be greatly missed but know his passing to eternal life is full of joy and he is reunited with his wife and family that await him coming home to Heavens embrace and peace with the Lord.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elida Martinez, in 2019, his parents, Mercedes and Juanita Martinez, and his brother, Ruperto Martinez.

Domingo is survived by his daughters, Noemi Martinez (Richard), Angela Martinez, Elisa Martinez (Jason), and Coley Duke; his sons, Gabriel Martinez (Lucy), Robert Martinez (Lisa), and Daniel Martinez (Luz); his grandchildren, Estevan, Eric Paul, Justin, Joshua, Jason, Jessica, Christina, Brendan, Evaylia, Zach, Aly, Sam, Savannah, Jarith, Garrick, and Trevor; his great-grandchildren, Laurence, Penelope, Elowyn, Elijah, Jake, Logan, Kyson, Ellie, Billy, Ricky, Samantha, Dominic, Jaden, Chloe, Keira with two more on the way; and his great-great grandchild, Tyus.

Services for Domingo will include a visitation on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary recited at 7:00 PM at Hurley Funeral Home. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Andrews Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veteran Cemetery on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
