Obituary

Don Allen Birdwell was born March 10, 1952 to Wyman and Evangeline Birdwell.  He entered his home in Glory May 12, 2025 at the age of 73.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother, Bobby Birdwell, his sisters, Mary Ann Glenn and Judy Nell James, and his niece, Randi Duran.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie Birdwell, his children – Chad and Britteny Birdwell, Cameron and Sara Birdwell, Kayla and Nick Fullen, Jay and Tammy Jones, Jenn and Mike Maxwell, his grandchildren, Bristin, Bauer, Cash and Cutter Birdwell, Bryce, Broc, Blake, Brody and Brooke Birdwell, Mitchel, Kyleigh and Caroline Fullen, Cord Bizor, Tanner Perales, Ellie and Preston Miller, JT and Ashley Jones, Cooper and Madison Jones, Elizabeth Perales, Karson Shipley and Mikenna, Jaylee and Hannah Maxwell, great-grands, Stella and Hudson Miller, Lily Jones and Ava Jones, many cousins, nieces and nephews and special friends; the class of 1971, JB and Sue Green, and Patti Birdwell.

Don grew up in a close, tight knit family. They spent time with cousins and extended family as much as they could. They had daily coffee time together and hamburgers every weekend.  Their family made efforts to gather together for holidays and other important dates; cherishing quality time spent with one another. Don's family upbringing built his foundation of faith by being active members of their church community.

Don went to Jourdanton High school and within those years, he created a close friendship with the class of 1971.  One they continue to hold a bond still today.

Don began his family with his first wife, Patti and had three amazing children.  When their marriage ended, Don returned to Jourdanton.  Shortly after, he and Rosie reunited and were married June 5, 1998.  They created a new life together with their blended family, many grandchildren and now great-grands.

He enjoyed serving his church family in various ways.  Don's favorite activity was spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and he did his best to make it to sporting events, school activities, award ceremonies and birthday parties.

Don had a kind, tender heart and a willingness to do anything that was needed for anyone. His quiet, steady provision was something that we relied on and are grateful for.  Don's presence, love and care will be greatly missed.

On May 12, 2025, Don ran into the arms of Jesus and left a hole in our hearts. We rejoice that he is in Glory and without pain; we will carry him with us until we meet again.

A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Pleasanton Church of Christ, starting at 2:00 pm.  Burial will follow at Jourdanton City Cemetery.
