Obituary

Douglas A. Stockton, age 81 of Pleasanton, passed away with his family by his side, on Friday, May 23, 2025. He was born in San Antonio, on Friday, April 28, 1944 to Hugh Spurgeon and Erma (Kelly) Stockton.

Douglas was in the US Army and Army Reserves for over 26 years, where he obtained the rank of E7. He then devoted 32 years to the San Antonio Police Department where he became a Detective, and worked in the Repeat Offender program. In his off time, he enjoyed camping. He was a devoted Christian and enjoyed being involved with Campers for Christ. Douglas enjoyed spending time with friends playing marbles. He always tried to laugh, and was known to be a kind-hearted man. Most of all he was a devoted husband and father.

Douglas is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Linda (Rains) Stockton; sons, Jason Kelly Stockton, and Michael Shane Stockton and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Michael Shane Stockton Jr. and Brianna, and Isaiah Chance Stockton, and great grandchild, Elvis Allen Stockton. He is also survived by numerous family and friends.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Hugh Francis Stockton.

Visitation for Douglas will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Hurley Funeral Home, starting at 9:30 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Committal services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, at 1:45 pm.
