Dwight Wayne Walker, 77, of Pleasanton, Texas passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, after an admirable fight with Glioblastoma.  He was at home with his loving and dedicated wife at the time of his passing.  A celebration of life will take place this summer.  Burial service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Born in Wichita Falls, Texas on April 19, 1948, Dwight spent 12 years in the Army before moving into a career with gas companies, first Warren Petroleum in Texas and later Enstar in Alaska.  Dwight was married for 56 years to the love of his life, Barbara Walker.  Dwight loved to travel and was passionate about planning the details of each adventure.  Dwight will be remembered for his love of guns and reloading.  He was a proud member of the Alaska Black Powder Club and Alaska Gun Collectors Association for many years.  He was hardworking, patriotic, honest and ruled by an intense sweet tooth.  Dwight loved nature and Alaska, his home on and off for 30 years.   He loved his family and took great joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was a strong, steady presence and skilled at sharing his knowledge with others.  His sense of humor remained until the end, when asked how he was doing by the hospice nurse he responded, " I was doing ok till mama pushed me down". He thoroughly enjoyed retirement and was often found camping or planning the next excursion.

Dwight Wayne Walker is survived by his wife Barbara Walker, children Tracy Maher (Leo), Brian Walker (Misty), grandchildren Chelsea Chamberlian (Ian), Hunter Maher, August Weindorfer, Abby Gaurmer (Garett), Jake Richmond (Taralynn) and his great grandchildren Damian, Aidan and Lucas Chamberlain and Olivia Gaurmer.  Dwight was also survived by chosen brother Stevan Cady and his wife Christina Cady with whom he enjoyed a lifelong bond.  Dwight was predeceased in death by his parents Gareth and Marie Walker and his brothers Charles Walker and Bradley Walker.

Friends and family will be invited to celebrate and remember Dwight on a date and time to be determined this summer.
