Obituary

Edward Lee Briskey, Jr. passed away on September 12, 2026, in Jourdanton, Texas. He was born on March 2, 1958, in Wichita, Kansas, to Mary Jane (Cantrell) Briskey and Edward Lee Briskey, Sr.

Edward spent part of his youth in San Diego, California, where his father served in the United States Navy. During his school years, Edward enjoyed running track. Following his graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force.

Edward proudly dedicated many years to the Air Force, eventually retiring as a bomb dog instructor. His experience and love for working with service dogs continued into his next career with U.S. Customs, where he served as a drug detection dog handler. His years of service reflected his dedication, discipline, and commitment to protecting his country and community.

Away from work, Edward enjoyed hobbies that showcased his patience and attention to detail. He especially loved putting together model trains and military models, spending countless hours creating and adding to his collections.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; sons, Michael Briskey and Edward L. Briskey III; grandchildren, Logan Briskey, Edward L. Briskey IV, Lilly Briskey, and Ethan Briskey; and sister, Diana Briskey-Kliner and husband, Mark.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane (Cantrell) Briskey and Edward Lee Briskey, Sr.; daughter, Christina Nicole Briskey; and brother, David Allen Briseky.

Edward will be remembered for his many years of dedicated service to his country, his devotion to his family, and the hobbies and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Hurley Funeral Home, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Jourdanton with interment to follow at St. Matthew Catholic Cemetery in Jourdanton.
