Eldon Doyle Tuttle Jr.
July 10, 1952 – December 17, 2024
Eldon Doyle Tuttle Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and cherished member of the Poteet, Texas community, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 10, 1952, to Eldon Tuttle Sr. and Inelda Tuttle, Eldon lived a life defined by love, service, and integrity.
A proud graduate of Poteet High School, Class of 1970, Eldon went on to attend Texas A&I University in Kingsville from 1970 to 1974. While at A&I, he walked on to the track and field team, competing in javelin and shot put, a reflection of his determination and drive.
At just 14, Eldon began working summers in the family business, Tuttle Motor Company. In 1979, at the age of 27, he became the third-generation owner upon his father's retirement. For over four decades, Eldon led the business with integrity, earning admiration from the community as a trusted leader, mentor, and friend.
On May 15, 1982, Eldon married his soulmate, Caron, and together they raised two daughters, Lauren Quincey and Erinn Walker. After their youngest left for college, Eldon and Caron took up country dancing, a shared passion that brought them joy and strengthened their bond.
Eldon was an avid saltwater fisherman who loved the adventure and peace of the Texas coast. In 2017, he and Caron turned their compassion for animals into action by founding Atascosa Animal Allies, a rescue group that has saved countless lives and strengthened the community.
Eldon is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Caron Tuttle; his daughters, Lauren Quincey and her son Liam (5), and Erinn Walker and her husband Evan Walker and their sons Samuel (5) and Reeves (1); his brother, Dana Tuttle, and wife Rhonda Tuttle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon Tuttle Sr. and Inelda Tuttle.
A visitation service for Eldon is scheduled for Friday, December 27, 2024, at Hurley Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, December 28, 2024, a funeral service will occur at 10:00 a.m. at Cowboy Fellowship, followed by burial at Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet.
