Elisa Garza Hasette passed away at her home in Tilden on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the age of 89. She was born in Tilden, on September 1, 1936 to Marcelo Garza and Delfina (Lopez) Garza.
Eliza devoted her life to her family and her faith, nurturing a loving home as a dedicated homemaker. She was also known for her deep commitment to her church, where she found both purpose and connection. She embodied a spirit of compassion and service, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her warm heart extended to her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally and who brought immense joy to her life. Music was a source of great happiness for Eliza. She found solace in its melodies, often filling her home with beloved tunes that resonated with her love for life and family.
Eliza was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mickey Hasette; her parents, Marcelo and Delfina Garza; and siblings, Marcelo Garza, Jr., Domingo Garza, Arturo Garza, Frank "Pancho" Garza and Mary Gonzales.
She is survived by her children, Norma Jean Montez (Emilio) and Edwin Dwayne Garza (Jessie); grandchildren, Erica Garza, Alicia Montez, Ronnie Garza, Kyra Garza and Gavin Garza; great-grandchildren, Jadon Kemp, Reid Kemp, Lauttyn "Lottie" Gutierrez, Oliveado Montez, and Vicente Montez; great-great-grandchild, Keagan Kemp; and her siblings, Guillermo Garza (Lydia) and Margaret Stacey.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 13, 2026, all at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 703 Congress Street, Tilden, starting with a visitation at 9:00 am, followed by a celebration of mass at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Hilltop Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Mickey.
