Eliseo
Rodriguez
Apr 11, 1935 — Apr 23, 2025
Jourdanton
Eliseo C. Rodriguez
April 11, 1935 – April 23, 2025
Eliseo C. Rodriguez, lovingly known as "Shorty" to many in his community, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the age of 90 surrounded by his family.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 66 years, Ermelinda Alaniz Rodriguez, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories. He also leaves behind his children: Rachel Dora Garza, Richard Alex Rodriguez (his wife Mary), James Rodriguez, Ellis Ray Rodriguez (his wife Melinda), and Annette Alaniz. Eliseo is also survived by his sister Frances Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Carolina Cruz Rodriguez, his youngest son Ralph Rodriguez, and his sister Esther Noreiga.
Born April 11, 1935, in Jourdanton, Texas, Eliseo was a strong man who showed his love through hard work, devotion, and exceptional talent.
Eliseo was a true craftsman who loved working with his hands. Whether it was remodeling his home or repairing engines, he found joy in creating, building, and fixing. The modest two-bedroom house he purchased with his wife Ermelinda became a labor of love as he remodeled it multiple times to accommodate their growing family. That house remained his only home — a symbol of his commitment and love.
In 1963, Eliseo opened E&L Garage (Eliseo & Lange) and served the community of Atascosa County with integrity and skill for over 40 years. From working on Jourdanton ISD school buses to servicing countless automobiles, he earned a reputation as a dependable, honest mechanic. He was known throughout the area as "Shorty from E&L Garage," a name spoken with fondness and respect. That garage is still going strong today, now run by his son Ellis and his wife Melinda, who proudly carries on his dad's legacy of service to the community.
He was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren and blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Shorty's legacy lives on in the lives he touched — through the family he built, the work he did, and the values he passed down. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
