Obituary

On March 24th, 2026, Elizabeth Claire Brieden Dornak moved gracefully from this world into the waiting arms of Jesus.   Although this was not completely expected, we are thankful she was lying with her loving husband Jimmy with whom she was married 64 years.  Known by many as Betty she loved being called Grammie the most.  Her last days she spent happily with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Betty was born in 1942 in Devine, Texas.  Betty had four sisters and one brother.  She married Jimmy after high school and they made Jourdanton their home. Betty and Jimmy had three children; Karen, Jim, and Kristy. Betty and Jimmy worked at the family business, Dornak Auto Parts, which stilloperates today.  Betty was a faithful servant with the St. Matthews Catholic Church in Jourdanton.

Betty was an amazing woman of many talents.  Later in life she learned to play guitar, quilt, weave, and even lay tile. She taught her children to cook, make kolaches, and sew. Betty loved the Corpus Christi coastline. She spent many days watching the beautiful sunsets at "The Condo."
Betty leaves behind a large extended family with whom she saw frequently. Betty absolutely loved reunions, weddings, and family Christmas. It was not just the immediate family that Betty cherished but all of the nieces, nephews, 1st and 2nd cousins and their spouses and children.

Betty would not want anyone to mourn her passing. She loved Jesus and knew why He took on an earthly life. So strong in this conviction, Betty completed an intense three year spiritual formation training so that she could disciple and counsel fellow believers. Betty prayed fervently for her family and her community. Betty also served in many church ministries and for 21 years was a part of the worship team. Additionally, Betty was part of the ACTS Retreat Team, the Rite of Christian Initiation, and served with Walk to Emmaus as a musician.
In addition to her husband and three children, Betty is survived by nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a huge extended family.

Life without Betty will no doubt be different and we will not deny the heartbreak. However, we will steadfastly cling to God's word from Revelation 21:4. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more.
