With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Erasmo S. Cardenas. Fondly known to all as "Mito". He went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born on September 2, 1932, to Hijinio and Antonia Cardenas in Pleasanton.

In his early young life, he joined the Air Force. After he left the service, he worked in the oil fields. Then at a later time, Erasmo worked as a butcher until he began working as an aircraft sheet metal mechanic at Kelly AFB in San Antonio. He retired after almost 30 years of service.

Erasmo is survived by his wife of 66 years, Florencia (Zepeda) Cardenas; daughters, Cynthia Ortiz and husband Marcos, Mary Cardenas, Dolores Sandoval and husband Pedro; grandson, Michael Sandoval and girlfriend Crystal Sepeda.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hijinio and Antonia (Saldana) Cardenas; brothers, Herman Cardenas, Hijinio Cardenas Jr., and Manuel Cardenas; sisters, Teresa Gutierrez, Oralia Zepeda, and infant sister, Bertha Cardenas.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Hurley Funeral Home, starting at 3:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 23, 2024, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with interment to follow in San Ysidro Cemetery.
