It is with great sadness that the family of Eva Cumpian Badillo announces her passing. Eva departed this world peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on October 1, 2023, at the age of 88.

Eva Cumpian Badillo was born on August 19, 1935 to Eusebio (Joe) Cumpian Sr. and Leonides (Casias) Cumpian in Poteet, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Minerva Orta, brother Raymond Cumpian, Tero Cumpian, and Joe Cumpian Jr.

Eva will forever be cherished and remembered by her devoted husband of 68 years, Louis Badillo.

Eva was also beloved mother to sons, Freddy Badillo (Olivia), Joe Luis Badillo (Sonia), and Jaime Badillo; and daughters, Diana Badillo, adopted daughter, Dinorah Uribe, Rosa Elia (Rosie) Lopez (Israel) and Patricia Murillo (Mario).

The pride and joy of her life was being grandmother to Rusty, Salina, Xavier, Leah, Anthony Badillo; Julia Gray; Marissa Murillo Morales, Marco, and Gabriel Murillo; and Noe and Angelica Lopez. Great-grandchildren include, Jacob, Noelani, and Keira Lopez; A.J., Ryder and Luella Badillo; and Samuel and Ava Morales.

A devoted member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Eva leaves behind a community and circle of friends who will deeply feel her absence.

Eva's service as a Guadalupana began in 1972. For seven years, she dedicated herself to teaching Catechism, nurturing young hearts for their First Communion. From 1985 to 2005, she organized the annual picnic raffle.

As a faithful servant, Eva held the roles of Lector and Eucharistic Minister from 1990 to 2001, touching lives with her unwavering devotion.

With her talent and love for music, on December 6, 1987, she founded the St. Rose of Lima first Spanish choir, serving as choir director for 33 years, retiring due to health reasons. She always worked to harmonize the music with Liturgical readings, masses, weddings, Quinceañeras, Rosaries, funerals, and various religious seasons.

Eva leaves behind a legacy of faith and devotion to serving God through her many activities in her beloved church.

Along with her spiritual calling, Eva was a nurturing mother to six children whom she fully supported and encouraged. She was their biggest cheerleader and celebrated their activities and achievements.

Eva was a beloved wife of Louis with whom she worked side by side for 25 years. She helped her husband grow their successful business and contributed to his work as a painter. Together they painted many homes and businesses in the area, including Hurley Funeral Home of Pleasanton. A job was not completed until Eva gave her final approval and make certain the job was well done. After many years, the time came when Eva gracefully decided to surrender her paintbrush.

Eva was a constant companion to her husband and together they enjoyed television shows like "The Price is Right", "Mollie B", and Mexican novelas. Together they also watched and cheered for their favorite teams on TV, the Dallas Cowboys, and the San Antonio Spurs. Among other activities, Eva loved spending time with friends playing Bingo.

As a mother and grandmother, she celebrated each child and grandchild welcoming them with her traditions and celebrations. She prepared wonderful meals, with her turkey dressing and menudo among the family's favorites. Her deserts made every celebration special. Eva's talents extended beyond the kitchen and into the garden where her flowers seemed to have bloomed unexpectedly during her last days.

Known for her humility, kindness, and generosity, Eva was a loving and warm presence to all who knew her. She will remain an inspiration to all whose lives she touched.

Eva's grandsons, Rusty Badillo, Xavier Badillo, Anthony Badillo, Noe Lopez, Marco Murillo, Gabriel Murillo, and Jaime Morales will serve as her pallbearers.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, commencing at 2:00 PM and concluding at 9:00 PM, with a Rosary service at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Charlotte, Texas, starting at 11:30 AM, followed by interment at the Joe Cumpian Cemetery in Big Foot, Texas.

Eva's light will continue to shine in our hearts, a testament to a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a spirit forever cherished. May she rest in eternal peace.
