Evangelina Perez Garza, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and caring member of her community, passed away on May 7, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones in Jourdanton, TX. Born on February 2, 1954, in San Antonio, TX, Evangelina was a beacon of compassion and kindness to all who were fortunate to know her.
Evangelina dedicated her life to caring for others, becoming certified in the nursing field in 1973. Outstanding in her career she earned many certificates and recognitions in her 44 years cherishing caring for her patients and their families, as well as enjoying the comradery of her coworkers. Her nurturing spirit and selfless nature left an indelible mark on all those whose lives she touched. Beyond her professional life, she found joy in traveling on family vacations, sightseeing, nature, tending to her vegetable plants, fruit plants and flowers, basking in the sun and playing in the water at the beach and river, and thriving in the quality time with her beloved family.
As a faithful parishioner of St. Matthews Catholic Church for 26 years, Evangelina's spiritual life was as profound and robust as her commitment to service. Later, she found solace and community at St. Andrew Catholic Church, where her faith flourished alongside her deep connections with others.
Evangelina is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Francisco Garza, Monica Garza (Daughter); Mr. & Mrs. Francisco Garza Jr. (Son and Daughter-in-Law) and Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Garza (Son and Daughter-in-Law), her loving and wonderful Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; Mr. & Mrs. Ralph and Dora Sandoval (Sister and Brother-in-Law, Deceased), Mr. & Mrs. Olivia De La Rosa and Pablo De La Rosa Jr. (Sister and Brother-in-Law, Deceased), Mr. & Mrs. Felix P. Friends, Family, and those touched by her acts of kindness can gather for funeral services and ceremonies to honor Evangelina Perez Garza's remarkable life at Hurley Funeral Home, (118 W. Oaklawn Rd Pleasanton, Tx 78064), for visitation to be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 5-7pm followed with a Rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 commencing at 10 am at St Andrew's Catholic Church, (626 Market St. Pleasanton, Tx. 78064), followed by burial procession to Jourdanton City Cemetery, (305 Waltom Avenue, Jourdanton, Tx 78026), and concluding with a meal.
In her quiet strength, unwavering love, and endless empathy, Evangelina leaves behind a legacy of warmth and goodness that will endure for generations to come. May she rest in eternal peace.
Evangelina was preceded in death by: Parents Mr. & Mrs. Juan N. Perez and Juanita P. Perez.
