Obituary

In Loving Memory of Felicitas Zepeda Mendoza

Felicitas Z. Mendoza was born on March 6, 1950 in Mexico in the small town of Cocula, Jalisco. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. It is with deep sorrow we announce her peaceful passing on December 22, 2023 at the age of 73, in San Antonio, TX.

Felicitas enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, new and old. Always bringing people together around the dining table and making sure no one is left hungry. Her homemade tortillas were her specialty. A lover of gardening, Felicitas could be found watering her plants and tending to her rose bushes daily. She was very proud of the beautiful flowers that bloomed in the mornings in the front yard of her home in Charlotte. Felicitas also had a special fondness for her pets, showering them with love and affection throughout her life.

In her free time, Felicitas could often be found glued to her favorite telenovelas, losing herself in the dramas and tales of love and intrigue. She also had a natural talent for dancing, she could be found sitting around the television along with her husband Jose and puppy Milo listening to their favorite radio stations. Effortlessly moving to the rhythm of the music, whether it be cumbias, country, or Tejano, bringing a joyful energy to any gathering.

Another of Felicitas' passions was baking delicious desserts from homemade banana nut bread to traditional Mexican-style empanadas. Her kitchen was filled with the sweet aroma of pastries, and recipes in her writing or in print could be found throughout the kitchen and home. Her love and devotion extended to her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. Aaliyah, Aaron, Ava, and Aulani were the lights of her life, and she showered them with endless affection and support. She found solace and peace in the company of her family. Her smile shone brightest among family gatherings such as birthdays, holidays, or simple get-togethers.

Felicitas Z. Mendoza will forever be remembered for her resilience, her optimism, and her endless dedication to family. She was and will forever be a source of strength and a guiding light of love. Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband of 41 years, Jose A Mendoza, JR; son Bobby Madrigal; daughter Keri Quiroga (Celestino Jr.); son Jose Daniel Mendoza (Rhonda Gutierrez); grandchildren Aaliyah, Aaron, Ava, and Aulani Quiroga; sister Josefina along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose Concepcion Zepeda Castro and Maria Castro Villa, her sisters Guadalupe Aguilar and Carmen Lomelí, and her only brother Jesus Zepeda Castro.
