In Loving Memory of Filbert Lee Swift Sr.

Filbert Lee Swift Sr., a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a proud Army veteran, peacefully passed away on October 3, 2023, in Pleasanton, TX. He was born on November 27, 1935, in Pueblo, CO, to loving parents who instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and generosity.

Filbert had a vibrant personality and was known for the bluest of blue eyes that no one could ever forget. He touched the lives of all who knew him. Despite only completing eighth grade, he never let his lack of formal education define him. Coal mining had been in the Swift family since the 1800s. Filbert worked as a coal miner for many years, then became a truck driver, and retired as a security officer in a casino at Cripple Creek. He embraced life to the fullest and found joy in simple pleasures. Filbert was an inpatient fisherman. He loved the thrill of gambling in Cripple Creek, and enjoyed working with his hands, on cars, and on other projects, showcasing his resourcefulness and skills. Filbert was also an avid bowler, belonging to a bowling league.

A man of routine, Filbert found comfort each morning with a cup of coffee and a plate of peanut butter crackers. His outgoing nature made him a master of teasing and playful banter, always brightening the atmosphere with his mischievous humor. But beneath those playful antics lay a man with a big heart, willing to go above and beyond to help others. Filbert's love for his family knew no bounds, and he would readily give the shirt off his back to support and care for them.

He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Agnes Swift; wife Maxine Swift; son Michael Lee Swift (Stillman); brothers Donald and Floyd Swift; sisters Alberta "Teennie" Langloss, Elizabeth Hodges, Betty DeFellippie, Ruby Swift, Thelma Brassea, Mary Jane Swift, and Delphia Swift.

Filbert leaves behind his son, Filbert Swift Jr. and his wife Lorraine; daughter Laura Swift Ellis and Cory Sochovka, daughter-in-law Cecilia (Swift) Stillman; daughter Deborah Holcomb and son Gilbert Martinez; and daughter Sue Morales; brother Lawrence "Barney" (Judy) Swift; grandchildren LaRae (Andrew) Esquibel, Janell Arellano, Mathew (Alisha) Swift, Ryan Swift, Ashley Swift, Sarah (Daniel) Swift, Zoey Swift, Leo Swift, Michael (Samantha) Stillman, Ariel (Warren) Brown, Jane Domingo, Noah Stillman, Lori Stillman, Bradley Swift-Ellis, Cassandra Ellis, and Kami Harmon; great-grandchildren Xzavier Esquibel, Audriana and DeShawn Goshay, Lilyann, Franklin and Novalee Swift, Elisia Reyes, Michael Edward Stillman Jr., Rowdy and Raul Rodriguez, and was "Uncle B" to numerous other nieces and nephews. His presence will be greatly missed by friends, extended family members, and all those whose lives he touched with his genuine compassion and selflessness.

In honoring Filbert's wishes, a cremation will take place. A ceremony to celebrate his life will be held later in Colorado, where family and friends will gather to share stories, offer support, and bid farewell to a remarkable man.

Filbert Lee Swift Sr.'s legacy will live on through the love and memories he leaves behind. In this time of sorrow, let us remember the joy he brought to our lives. May he rest in eternal peace.
