Frances "Fran" Ann Mayse, peacefully passed away in Austin, on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born in Loraine, Texas on May 14, 1941, to Floyd Lee Griffin and Pauline Frances (Thompson) Griffin.
Frances was a proud member of the sorority Xi Omega Iota, where she held various offices, earned the highest degree and was honored to be named the Valentine's Sweetheart. With a passion for community involvement, she was an active member of the Bridge Club and served as the past president of the Pleasanton Women's Club.
Her love for music was evident in her participation in the church choir and numerous committees. Frances enjoyed playing guitar and singing with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Pauline Griffin; daughter, Angel Mayse; sister, Mattie Ewell Wright; and brother, Charles Lee Griffin.
Fran is survived by her loving husband, John Mayse, Sr.; daughter, Madeline Mayse; sons, John Mayse, Jr. (Leigh Ann Van Blaricum) and Kevin Mayse (Stephanie Lang); grandchildren, Johnathan Mayse, Faith Mayse (Corbin Flores – fiancé), Megan Mayse and Emma Mayse; great-grandchild, Eliott Flores; and sister, Dora Robinson.
A visitation for Frances is scheduled for Monday, May 13, 2024, at Hurley Funeral Home, Pleasanton, starting at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a funeral service at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the First Methodist Church Pleasanton. Frances will be laid to rest on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 11:00 am at Mertzon Cemetery, located at 1200 Co Rd 390, Mertzon, Texas 76941.
Her legacy of kindness and love will forever be cherished by those who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
