Frank Paniagua, Jr. passed away at his home on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the age of 89, just 2 days shy of his 90 birthday. He was born in Pleasanton on November 11, 1934, to Francisco Paniagua and Beatrice (Gonzalez) Paniagua.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rebecca Barnett; sisters, Janie Rodriguez and husband Joe, Mary Alice Huizar; brother, David Paniagua and wife, Josie Paniagua; and brother-in-law, Joe Barbosa.
He was survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Paniagua; sons, Rick Paniagua and wife Yolanda and Larry Paniagua; special daughter, Samantha Rakowitz; special son, Todd James; grandchildren, Cecily Nicole Paniagua Glaspie and husband Micah Glaspie, Nicolas Dane Paniagua, Hunter Barnett and Brandi Barnett; great-granddaughter, Isla Wren Glaspie; brothers, Joe Ernest Paniagua and wife Tish, George Paniagua, and Daniel Paniagua and wife JoAnn; sister, Beatrice Barbosa; brother-in-law, Henry Huizar; along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Frank fondly dedicated his life to serving his country through his work in civil service at Kelly Air Force Base, where he retired. Frank, alongside his wife Mary, owned and operated a child daycare for many years, where they shared their love, warmth and kindness with countless children and their families. He had an amazing passion for family, including those extended beyond his own, as he served as a mentor and loving grandfather figure to many children in his extended family.
Frank grew up on a farm and ranch, instilling in him a strong work ethic, commitment and a deep connection to the land. Throughout his life, Frank found joy in various sports, with a special love for the Texas teams, the Astros, Spurs, and Cowboys. He enjoyed leading a coffee get-together group, fostering friendships and community ties. Known for his friendly demeanor and outgoing personality, Frank was always ready to lend a helping hand and share a laugh with those around him.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Hurley Funeral Home, starting at 9:00 am with a reciting of the rosary at 10:00 am, followed by a celebration of mass at St. Andrew Catholic Church at 11:00 am with burial at Esparza Cemetery.
