Gilberto S. Camacho

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Gilberto Camacho's passing on August 9, 2026, at the age of 55. Born on November 12, 1970, in Raymondville, TX, Gilberto lived a life full of joy, adventure, and love.

He spent his days as a heavy equipment operator, a job he took pride in, but it was the time spent with family and friends that truly defined him. Those who knew Gilberto remember him for his love of barbecues, where he’d infuse every gathering with laughter and delicious food. When he lived closer to the coast, he enjoyed bay fishing, jet skis, and had a blast riding 4-wheelers, always ready for a good time outdoors with those he loved.

Gilberto is survived by his beloved son, River Camacho; brothers Lauro Camacho, Israel Camacho, Jessie Camacho, and Casanova Florez; sisters Mary Serna, Carol Ramos, Frances Hein, Gloria Ramon, Norma Suarez, Martina Solis, Janie Martinez, and Dorothy Camacho. He leaves behind a legacy of love and humor that will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Gilberto was preceded in death by: Parents Fedrico and Marta Camacho; brother Lupe Camacho; and son Creo Camacho.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Hurley Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at San Ysidro Cemetery. Let’s come together and share our stories, laughter, and memories as we remember a truly wonderful soul. Rest in peace, Gilberto. You will always be in our hearts.
